Great iPad Apps for OT's

Neon Mania:
This is one of my newest apps, and I absolutely love it!  I was looking for a simple game, where my students could practice fine motor precision and control, as well as visual perceptual skills without realizing it (mazes are only entertaining for so long!)....and one day I stumbled upon this app.

When the level begins, the neon lights are "off"and there are small stars at the start of each of the lights.  The student needs to place their fingers on the stars and follow the line to "turn on" the neon light.  As they do this, they earn points, based on what appears to be accuracy and speed.

In addition allowing the opportunity to practice their fine motor skills, the game also offers high visual contrast, with "neon lights" on a black background and colorful, fun, kid friendly shapes!  My students love it!
Doodle Find:
Doodle find is a great app for kids to practice their visual perceptual skills including figure ground, visual scanning, and visual discrimination.

There is both a free version and a .99 version of this game. To play the game the student looks at the top of the screen for a figure that they will have to find below. For example the screen will say "box x 4" ( if the student has difficultly with reading or is very young the words can be read for them and they can find the pictures) and the student will have to look at the picture and find the 4 boxes. The game is timed however clues are offered when the student can't find the figure in the picture. As time goes on more figures are added to the picture to make the game more difficult.

This is a fun and exciting game for student's to practice many important skills that contribute to reading fluency.
